A 1931 Home in Columbia: Photo Tour of its Past and Present
Join us February 25, 6-7:45pm at the library to learn about the 1931 home of Peter Bloch. Explore the story of its past and present through photographs. Peter Bloch and his wife bought their house 30 years ago and had extensive remodeling done. Great effort was taken to update the design while maintaining and enhancing its 1930s character. Come see before and after images and learn about the pleasures and challenges in owning a nearly century-old home. Guest speaker, Peter Bloch, is a retired Professor of Marketing at Mizzou whose research covered product design and the architecture of retail stores.
CoMo Preservation is devoted to helping homeowners, landlords, and institutions prevent the destruction of historic architecture. Original period styles might be replicated, but will forever lack the social history of authentic structures. The preservation of historic places and spaces gives people a sense of place and boosts Columbia’s economy. You can get involved by becoming a member, volunteering, signing up for our mailing list, attending an event, or donating.
